4 Feb. 2026: The UK Sheet Plant Association (SPA) 113th Conference, held at Silverstone Circuit, welcomed more than 260 delegates from across the UK and international corrugated packaging supply chain, reinforcing its reputation as one of the most influential events in the industry calendar.
Attendees included senior representatives from SPA sheet plant members, supplier companies, industry bodies, and the trade press, alongside a strong cohort of students exploring future careers in paper-based packaging.
Delegate feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many describing it as the best SPA Conference to date:
“A real buzz in the room – probably the best industry event I have attended,” commented one delegate, while another added, “The best one ever. Brilliant venue, outstanding content, and exceptionally well organised.”
The Conference opened with a welcome and industry overview from SPA Chairman Tim Gray, followed by key updates from Alex Veitch (Confederation of Paper Industries), EUWID, and NOA, providing delegates with valuable insight into UK and European market conditions.
Technology and risk management featured prominently, with sessions on Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security from Nick Baxter (AI Expert) and Stefan Liversidge (OPSWAT).
A major highlight was the strong focus on talent and future workforce development. The presence of students and tutors was widely praised, with many delegates describing it as a decisive and progressive move for the industry.
Ben Edmonds (Cardboard Ninja) delivered a presentation that resonated strongly, including a call for businesses to donate usable waste materials, such as cardboard offcuts, to local schools. The “Think Inside The Box” Student Design Awards celebrated creativity from Northampton College and Sharnbrook Sixth Form.
One of the most impactful sessions of the day came from Nic Hamilton, whose humble and inspiring story of resilience, determination, and achievement captivated the audience and earned widespread acclaim.
Jo Stephenson highlighted initiatives including Young People In Print (YPIP) and confirmed that the SPA will be actively involved in cross-industry discussions later this month to develop an aligned approach to attracting young talent into print and packaging.
The Conference also celebrated graduates of the SPA Emerging Leaders Programme and welcomed 19 new candidates who commenced their two-year programme immediately following the event.
Delegates engaged throughout the day with an Interactive Zone featuring cyber security experts, the AI Pit Stop Zone, racing simulators, SPARK Robotics, the UK Corrugated Industry Trade Show gazebo and a well-attended Supplier Showcase.
The event was proudly supported by headline sponsor Amtech Software, whose valuable contribution was instrumental to the success of the Conference.
With strong attendance, exceptional feedback, and a programme focused on innovation, people, and performance, the SPA 113th Conference once again demonstrated the strength and relevance of the Association and the wider corrugated packaging industry.
