Electrical Foreman - Reporting to Electrical Engineer

The Position:
We have a vacancy in our Electrical Engineering Team for an Electrical Foreman. The role will provide primary electrical support to the day and shift Electricians, therefore requires strong leadership and delegation skills, as well as ‘hands on’ working as required.

You will join a team working an 8-week, day-based cycle involving weekend coverage, also offering attractive periods of rest.

Engineering within paper mills offers a very diverse and interesting scope of daily work, and we are looking for an individual with the enthusiasm and energy to further strengthen our team and the essential role it plays at the mill.

Main Accountabilities:
  • Providing an electrical maintenance service for Pelta Medical Papers Ltd.
  • To organise and supervise the daily electrical and instrumentation department work duties,
    providing support, development and specialization within the department.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Hold safety as prime priority in all aspects of E&I department activities including the safe
    management of contractors and external visitors.
  • Controlling labour in this section, involving communication, allocation of work, allocation of leave and overtime, and controlling timekeeping.
  • Ensuring electrical engineering work complies with design instructions and is of the required
    standard.
  • Primary involvement of planned allocation of daily work and shut down work plans.
  • Inspecting services and plant for possible faults and working with the maintenance management system, create daily and weekly work lists and plans.
  • Keeping the electrical stores at the spares level required to maintain the plant to the required
    standard.
  • Planning of electrical work for installation.
  • Providing diagnostic expertise for the identification and rectification of faults in processes and on the plant.
  • To provide technical back-up to shift electrical/technical personnel.
  • Key involvement in plant shutdown and start up at weekends.
  • Maintenance and fault finding on P.L.C. systems, gauging systems and inspection systems would be highly desirable.
  • Involvement in project work as required.
Experience, Qualities and Qualifications:
  • Completion of Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship
  • Strong knowledge of DC motors and Drive characteristics
  • Strong knowledge of process instrumentation and their control loops
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Considerable experience of plant maintenance
  • Paper industry experience ideal, but not essential
